Konig Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains Installation - 2022 Mazda CX-9- Video

Hey, everybody, Cooper here at etrailer. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Konig XG-12 Pro Self-Tensioning Tire Chains on our 2022 Mazda CX-9 using tire size P255/50R20. Now, reading over the Mazda owner manual before we we're looking into these tire chains, we did discover that there are two different tire sizes offered for the CX-9. Now, the owner's manual only recommend the tire chains to be used on our other size, so if you do live in an area of high snow and ice, we would recommend maybe looking into swapping out your tires. However, we did discover that the tire chains do fit on this tire size here today, but either way, the owner's manual does instruct us to use them on our front axle. Taking a little bit closer look at our chain, we can see that our links are going to be made out of the manganese nickel alloy, it means that they're just going to be very corrosion resistant and be able to stand up to multiple years of uses across those weather conditions. more

Konig Standard Snow Tire Chains Installation - 2022 Mazda CX-9- Video

Hey everybody, Cooper here at etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Konig XB-16 assisted tension tire chains on our 2022 Mazda CX9. Just a quick disclaimer, we did look into the Mazda owner's manual when determining tire chains for our tires here today and we found that the tire size 255/50 R20 is actually not recommended for tire chains in the Mazda owner's manual, the other tire size available is so if you live in a area with high snow and ice, it is recommended possibly for you to change over your tires but we have found that if you just need tire chains in sense of emergency that these are going to fit just fine. Either way, regardless of your tire size, we are going to install them on our front axle. Taking a closer look into our chains we can see that they are made up of these square links here which are just going to be a bit more aggressive and help break up that snow and ice a lot easier. The chain overall does make a diamond pattern around our wheel, which just helps us with that side to side motion when driving not really increasing or decreasing any of our starting or stopping power. more

The best thing about this snow tire chain, the K-Summit X extra large is that if you need clearance, or if you have limited clearance around your tire, especially in the back, this is a great option because it only mounts on the front. So the only point of contact it has with the tire is on the tire and it's mounted by a lug net.So if you have really close parts back there that you really don't want to interfere with, you can use this tire chain. So these are going to be an extremely smooth ride and they are compliant with all the DOT specifications for the road.So, with the limited amount of wheel clearance that we have in our Mazda here, it's going to be ideal, and it's just going to give you a great, smooth ride, whatever you have chains on. Sometimes it gets a little rough with the more aggressive chains. These aren't going to be extremely aggressive at all. Today on our 2018 Mazda CX-5 we're going to being doing a test on the Konig standard snow tire chains part number TH01571247.These chains are very quick and easy to install. They also have this nice self-tensioning system, which is very ideal so that you don't have to purchase any extra rubber adapters to make sure your chains stay snug against your tire.These chains have a diamond pattern rather than a latter pattern, which is gonna give you more coverage around your tire and provide you with much better traction while you're on the road.These D-links are gonna dig into that snow and ice and give you that bite you need for starts, stops, and turns.These chains have a maximum speed rating of 30 miles per hour and it comes in a set of two with this durable carrying case, which makes for easy storage. It also comes with a set of gloves and a kneeling pad.If your CX-5 is all-wheel drive and you wanna have a set a back for your back tires just use the same part number.The first thing you wanna do before installing your chains is to lay them out flat. You wanna look and try to find any kinks, twists or tangles and remove them.You also wanna make sure that these hooks right here are facing down towards the ground so the smooth side is facing up. This gonna help prevent those hooks from digging into your tire when the chains are installed.Now we can start to slide our chains behind our tire. These Titan snow tire chains feature a diamond pattern, rather than a ladder pattern, so they're going to give you more tire coverage, which means more traction. They feature small square links, so they're going to give you superior grip on snow and ice. Since they're small, they're going to provide you with a lot smoother ride, than chains with larger links. What differentiates these chains from the rest, is one, you don't have to worry about driving on them to get them connected. You also don't have to worry about reaching around and trying to connect them that way. Most chains require a rubber adjuster or an additional part to help keep them tight and snug around the tire. These chains are going to be made of a hard, encased steel, which is going to be very durable and stand up against the elements. It's going to be suitable for front and rear wheel drive vehicles, the latter pattern is going to add superior traction for starts and stops. With this semi-aggressive pattern of the twisted links, it's going to add that extra traction, breaking through any kind of hard snow pack, or ice. Now, that we have it laid out, let's go ahead and lay it over the top of our tire and show you how to hook it up. Today on our 2015 Mazda CX-9 we'll be installing the Glacier Snow Tire Chains, part number PW2029C. These tire chains feature a rugged steel wiring covered with case-hardened steel rollers for traction. They're easy to install and comply with all DOT specifications and fit either the front or rear wheel of your vehicle depending on if you have a front-wheel drive model or all-wheel drive model. Here's what our Glacier Tire Chain looks like on our CX-9. This vehicle is equipped with 245 60R18 size tires. You'll see it's a nice fit, good tension around it. You do have a handle here that allows you to adjust your tension on it depending on what length the cable you use to get it as tight as possible around your wheel. As you see it features nice wiring here around the steel cable that spins and gets your traction when in use. more
